musings on sociology, music, religion, higher ed, and whatever else is going on in my life

Ah, To Be Young Again
Sitting in my office, secluded from the rest of campus for hours and even days on end, I often forget why I do what it is I do. Part of the reason that I became a professor and that I love higher ed so much is the palpable energy of a college campus and the vivacious vim of college students. They are in the prime of their lives; they are exuberant; and it is infectious! We professors like to complain about how unmotivated and uncritical our students can be at times. I'm happy that they remind me regularly that there is more to college than books and classes.
