People Are Not Ants

This piece from the Atlantic propagates E.O. Wilson's sociobiology, this time, specifically, his claim that he can explain the right/left bifurcation of contemporary politics. A better title for the piece would have been "A Biologist Fails at Sociology."

To analogize Wilson's argument, some human beings like to be cooler while some human beings like to be warmer which means that [logical leap] temperature preferences must be genetically determined; however, when humans get too hot or too cold, they tend to die so [logical contradiction] moderate temperature preferences are genetically normal. Thus, temperature extremists are genetically abnormal. See! It's all biology!

Or, maybe not.
