Just a quick point. I think this gets lost on many people. Government, as an institution, has been our human attempt at making social structure rational and overt. We started governing, however, before we really understood social structure. Now that we understand structure better, we should realign our government to our social structure. In many ways, this is the primordial debate of our era: can humans rationalize our social organization? If we can, should we? This post is related to my point.
