Beer Isn't Proof After All

How sad. It turns out that the oft-quoted "Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy" is wrongly attributed to Ben Franklin. He actually wrote this:
Behold the rain which descends from heaven upon our vineyards, there it enters the roots of the vines, to be changed into wine, a constant proof that God loves us, and loves to see us happy.
The original is still a worthy sentiment in my book, even if not attributable to the wittiest of founding fathers.

  1. Isn't alcohol just a way for us to get closer to our pre-forbidden fruit days of lowered inhibitions?
