Quick thought: after traveling to Michigan and Indiana to visit family last month, we tried out three new microbreweries. For the first time, I found myself questioning if we'd at last reached peak beer, a term that I'm using to mean that the average quality of product from these new breweries is starting to diminish (not to be confused with the repeated dire warnings from the uninformed that the market for craft beer has been saturated). I won't name the breweries here or give a thorough review, but overall, the beers were lackluster, though not bad. In the small towns that we visited, I'd argue that it's better to have a few mediocre breweries than none at all.
